The issue is related to an out-of-bounds read vulnerability that could lead to disclosure of sensitive memory. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to bypass mitigations such as ASLR. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction, in that a victim must open a malicious file. This could potentially allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code using a specially crafted file.
Recommendations:
For Substance3D - Modeler versions 1.14.1 and earlier, as a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of potentially malicious files until a patch is available. Restrict access to untrusted files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
