Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The issue is related to a potential out-of-bounds access in the Linux kernel's dm-cache component. This occurs when the fast device is expanded unexpectedly before the first-time resume of the cache table, leading to inadequate in-core data structures. The problem arises because expanding the fast device requires reloading the cache table for cache create to allocate new in-core data structures that fit the new size, and the check in cache preresume is not performed during the first resume.
No information is provided about the estimated number of potentially affected devices or real-world incidents where this issue was exploited.
Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
