Description A critical vulnerability has been found in the DDNS Service of D-Link DIR-823G. The function SetDDNSSettings of the file /HNAP1/ is affected. The manipulation of the argument SOAPAction leads to improper authorization, allowing for remote attacks. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. This issue only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer.
Recommendations As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the SetDDNSSettings function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the /HNAP1/ file to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the SOAPAction argument in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
