Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Lunary-ai/lunary version git 105a3f6
Description
The issue allows users to upload their own regular expressions, which are executed on the server. Certain regular expressions can have exponential runtime complexity relative to the input size, leading to potential denial of service. An attacker can exploit this by submitting a specially crafted regular expression, causing the server to become unresponsive for an arbitrary length of time.
Recommendations
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the execution of user-uploaded regular expressions until a patch is available. Restrict access to the server-side regular expression execution to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using complex regular expressions in the affected application until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
