CVE-2023-52942

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel related to the cgroup/cpuset functionality. The issue arises from an incorrect check in the update parent subparts cpumask() function, which can lead to a situation where a parent cpuset is left with no effective CPU, even if there are tasks in the parent cpuset. This can result in a system panic. The problem is resolved by updating the check to fail the enabling of the partition if the parent's effective cpus is a subset of the child's cpus allowed.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
