CVE-2023-52984

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A null pointer access issue has been resolved in the Linux kernel, specifically in the dp83822 driver. The probe() function is used only for the DP83822 PHY, leaving the private data pointer uninitialized for the smaller DP83825/26 models. This causes a NULL pointer dereference on the smaller PHYs when configuring the interrupt, as it accesses the private data unchecked. Verifying the pointer avoids this issue.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
