CVE-2023-53031

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 6.2.0-rc2
Description A vulnerability has been resolved in the Linux kernel related to the powerpc/imc-pmu code, which triggers a warning when running a thread imc event with CONFIG DEBUG ATOMIC SLEEP and CONFIG PROVE LOCKING enabled. The warning occurs because the current imc-pmu code uses a mutex lock in interrupt disabled sections, causing the mutex lock() function to internally call might resched(), which checks if IRQs are disabled and triggers the warning in such cases.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 6.2.0-rc2, the issue can be fixed by changing the mutex lock to a spinlock in the affected code sections.
