CVE-2025-21893

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A use-after-free (UAF) issue has been identified in the Linux kernel, specifically in the key put() function. This issue arises when the reference count of a key is reduced to 0, allowing the garbage collector thread to destroy it at any time. However, the code attempts to access the key after its deadline, which is not permitted. The problem is resolved by introducing a flag to indicate when a key can be garbage collected, rather than relying on the key's reference count.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
