CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been identified where ENETC Virtual Functions (VFs) do not support HWTSTAMP TX ONESTEP SYNC. This is because only the ENETC Physical Function (PF) can access PMa SINGLE STEP registers. If VFs are used to test one-step timestamp, it can lead to a crash. The crash log indicates a kernel paging request at a specific virtual address, followed by a call trace involving functions such as enetc port mac wr, enetc start xmit, enetc xmit, and dev hard start xmit.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
