CVE-2025-21900

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A deadlock issue in the Linux kernel's NFSv4 component has been identified. This occurs when a file is sillyrenamed and slated for deletion upon close. If the server reboots, it may trigger an open reclaim, which can then race with the application's call to close(). This can lead to a deadlock because the subsequent call to put nfs open context() triggers a synchronous delegreturn call that is not marked as privileged. The issue is resolved by ensuring that nfs4 inode return delegation on close() catches the delegreturn and schedules it asynchronously.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
