Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Big Boom Directory plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.5.0
Description
The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the plugin's 'bbd-search' shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.5.0, consider disabling the 'bbd-search' shortcode until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to pages that use this shortcode to minimize the risk of script injection. Avoid using the 'bbd-search' shortcode with user-supplied attributes until the issue is resolved.
