Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A memory leak issue has been identified in the Linux kernel. The problem occurs when a large folio needs to be dropped due to EOF (End Of File) and the correct number of references is not used to drop all page cache refs. This can happen on a filesystem with a block size greater than the page size when a truncate operation is performed, causing the folios to split into higher-order ones and resulting in truncated folios not being freed.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
