CVE-2024-10957

CVSS v2.0

10

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin versions 1.23.8 through 1.24.11
Description The UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection via deserialization of untrusted input in the recursive unserialized replace function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject a PHP Object. No known POP chain is present in the vulnerable software, which means this vulnerability has no impact unless another plugin or theme containing a POP chain is installed on the site. If a POP chain is present via an additional plugin or theme installed on the target system, it may allow the attacker to perform actions like delete arbitrary files, retrieve sensitive data, or execute code depending on the POP chain present. An estimated 3 million WordPress sites are potentially affected.
Recommendations To resolve the issue, update to version 1.24.12 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the recursive unserialized replace function until a patch is available. Additionally, administrators should be cautious of potential POP chains present in other plugins or themes that could amplify the impact of this vulnerability.
