| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
The WordPress Mega Menu – QuadMenu plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.2.0
Description:
The issue is related to Cross-Site Request Forgery due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the
ajax dismiss notice() function. This allows unauthenticated attackers to update any user meta to a value of one, including wp capabilities, which could result in a privilege deescalation of an administrator. Attackers can exploit this by tricking a site administrator into performing an action, such as clicking on a link, via a forged request.Recommendations:
For versions up to, and including, 3.2.0, update to a version that includes the fix for the missing or incorrect nonce validation on the
ajax dismiss notice() function.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the ajax dismiss notice() function until a patch is available.Fix
