CVSS v3.1

7.0

VectorAV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, which could cause random stack corruption after get block is called. This issue occurs when get block is called with a buffer head allocated on the stack, such as in do mpage readpage, and a race condition situation arises. The vulnerability is related to a use-after-free (UAF) of buffer head. To fix this issue, a patch has been applied that returns -EAGAIN if a folio does not have buffers when bh read needs to be called, allowing the caller to fallback to alternative functions.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
