Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, related to a narrowing conversion issue in the acpi nfit ctl function. The issue arises when a user-provided value, call pkg->nd family of type u64, is converted to int and then compared to NVDIMM BUS FAMILY MAX. If the lower 32 bits of call pkg->nd family are zero, but the value is non-zero, an invalid argument can be passed to acpi nfit ctl, leading to undefined behavior. The vulnerability was reported by Syzkaller, which emitted a warning for the to nfit bus uuid function.
