| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Avatar plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 0.1.4
Description
The Avatar plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in a function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted, such as wp-config.php.
Recommendations
For Avatar plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 0.1.4, update to a version higher than 0.1.4 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to sensitive files and directories to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
RCE
