CVE-2025-38049

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, related to the x86/resctrl component. The issue arises from the allocation of the cleanest CLOSID on platforms with no monitors, which can cause a NULL pointer dereference when creating a new control group. This occurs because some platforms may not have cache occupancy monitors, leading to an unallocated array. The logic for allocating the cleanest CLOSID depends on values read from the llc occupancy counters, which are not present on all architectures.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
