Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions The Post Form – Registration Form – Profile Form for User Profiles – Frontend Content Forms for User Submissions (UGC) plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.8.13
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'bf new submission link' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 2.8.13, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'bf new submission link' shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation.
