CVE-2024-12118

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions The Events Calendar plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 6.9.0
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the Event Calendar Link Widget through the html tag attribute due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 6.9.0, consider disabling the html tag attribute in the Event Calendar Link Widget as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the Event Calendar Link Widget to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the html tag attribute in the affected widget until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
