Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved. The issue is related to the media: venus: hfi component, where a check has been added to handle out-of-bounds (OOB) writes in the sfr region. The
sfr->buf size variable, located in shared memory, can be modified by a malicious user, allowing for OOB writes when the size is increased beyond the actual sfr data buffer size. To mitigate this, the size is capped to the allocated size in such cases.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
