Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A NULL pointer dereference issue has been resolved in the Linux kernel. The issue occurs when using bpftool to pin {PROG, MAP, LINK} without a FILE, resulting in a segmentation fault. This is caused by the lack of a FILE, which triggers a NULL pointer dereference in the
strlen function. The corresponding stacktrace shows the issue occurring in the do pin function, specifically in the mount bpffs for pin and strlen(name) calls. The fix involves adding validation to the common process.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
