Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to the KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) on x86 systems, specifically with the SMRAM (System Management RAM) image. On a 64-bit host, if the guest does not have the X86 FEATURE LM feature, KVM will access 16 GPRs (General Purpose Registers) in the 32-bit SMRAM image, causing an out-of-bounds RAM access. This issue does not occur on 32-bit hosts due to the compilation of specific functions.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
