CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A issue in the Linux kernel has been identified where attempting to probe a mt7921e PCI card without firmware results in a successful probe, but ieee80211 register hw is not called. When the driver is removed, ieee80211 unregister hw is called unconditionally, leading to a kernel NULL pointer dereference. This occurs because mt76 unregister device is run on unregistered hardware.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
