CVE-2023-53111

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to use-after-free problems in the Linux kernel. Specifically, the do req filebacked() function calls blk mq complete request() synchronously or asynchronously when using asynchronous I/O, unless memory allocation fails. To fix this, the loop handle cmd() function was modified to avoid dereferencing 'cmd' or 'rq' after do req filebacked() finishes, unless it is certain that the request has not been completed. This resolves a kernel crash caused by a NULL pointer dereference.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
