CVE-2023-53116

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux Kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A use-after-free issue has been identified in the Linux kernel, specifically in the nvmet component. This issue arises when the queue response() operation in an NVMe target implementation frees the request passed as an argument, potentially resulting in a use-after-free of the request pointer when percpu ref put() is called in nvmet req complete(). The problem is avoided by using a local variable to save the sq pointer before calling nvmet req complete(), thus preventing dereferencing of the req pointer after the function call.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
