Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.2.0-rc3-next-20230110-syzkaller
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been identified, where the
struct pn533 out arg is not properly initialized, leading to a potential null pointer dereference in the pn533 out complete() callback function. This can cause a general protection fault. The issue is related to the NFC subsystem, specifically the pn533 driver.Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 6.2.0-rc3-next-20230110-syzkaller, initialize the
phy field of struct pn533 out arg with the currently used pn533 usb phy to prevent the null pointer dereference.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the NFC subsystem or restricting its use until a patch is available.Exploit
