Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Modula Image Gallery plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.11.10
Description
The Modula Image Gallery plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation in the zip upload functionality. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Author-level access and above, to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server, which may make remote code execution possible.
Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.11.10, update to a version later than 2.11.10 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the zip upload functionality until a patch is available.
Restrict access to the plugin's upload feature to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
RCE
Unrestricted File Upload
