CVSS v3.1
9.8
Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Paid Membership Subscriptions – Effortless Memberships, Recurring Payments & Content Restriction plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.13.7
Description
The issue is due to the
pms pb payment redirect link function using the user-controlled value supplied via the pms payment id parameter to authenticate users without any further identity validation. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers with knowledge of a valid payment ID to log in as any user who has made a purchase on the targeted site.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 2.13.7, consider disabling the
pms pb payment redirect link function until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to the pms payment id parameter to minimize the risk of unauthorized access. Update to a version later than 2.13.7 when available.Fix
Improper Authentication
