CVE-2024-12921

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions EthereumICO plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.4.6
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's ethereum-ico shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes, such as username or other user input. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, potentially through API endpoints like "/wp-admin/admin.php" or "/wp-content/plugins/ethereum-ico/".
Recommendations For EthereumICO plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.4.6, update to a version higher than 2.4.6 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the ethereum-ico shortcode until a patch is available. Restrict access to pages that use the ethereum-ico shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the ethereum-ico shortcode in pages until the issue is resolved.
