CVE-2025-37879

CVSS v3.1

7.1

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue concerns the Linux kernel's handling of read/write replies in the 9p/net module. Specifically, in p9 client write() and p9 client read once(), if a server incorrectly replies with a negative write/read count, it could lead to improper handling due to signed variables. The problem is resolved by making these variables unsigned. This prevents a potential null pointer dereference.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
