CVE-2024-13426

CVSS v3.1

5.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions WP-Polls plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.77.2
Description The issue arises from insufficient escaping on the user-supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query, making it possible for unauthenticated attackers to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries. Although the results of these queries are not displayed to the attacker and thus cannot be exploited to obtain additional information about the database, a properly configured payload allows for the injection of malicious JavaScript, resulting in Stored Cross-Site Scripting.
Recommendations For WP-Polls plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.77.2, update to a version later than 2.77.2 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the plugin's functionality to minimize the risk of exploitation until a patch is applied.
