CVE-2025-37904

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to the fixed version
Description A bug in the Linux kernel has been identified, which can lead to a busy inode at unmount time, resulting in a kernel BUG. This issue occurs when btrfs alloc path() fails, and btrfs iget() directly returns without releasing the inode already allocated by btrfs iget locked(). The estimated number of potentially affected devices worldwide is not available. There is no information about real-world incidents where this issue was exploited.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to the fixed version, the issue can be resolved by applying the fix that calls iget failed() if btrfs alloc path() fails. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the btrfs iget() function until a patch is available.
