CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, related to the alignment of the section vmemmap start address to PAGE SIZE. This issue could lead to a kernel crash when the section vmemmap start address is unaligned, causing the altmap page allocated from the current namespace to be used by the previous namespace. This can result in the previous namespace incorrectly assuming that the page is a normal page and attempting to free it, leading to a kernel crash. The vulnerability is related to the use of vmemmap altmaps, which are device-provided regions used to provide backing storage for struct pages.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
