Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Page Builder: Pagelayer – Drag and Drop website builder plugin for WordPress versions prior to 2.0.1
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's Button widget due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 1.9.9, update to version 1.9.9 to partially fix the issue.
For versions 1.9.9 and 2.0.0, update to version 2.0.1 to completely fix the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Button widget until a patch is available.
Avoid using the Button widget in the plugin until the issue is resolved.
