Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the edd receipt shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages, which will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 3.3.8.1, update to a version higher than 3.3.8.1 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the edd receipt shortcode for users with contributor-level access and above until a patch is available.
