CVE-2025-5538

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions BNS Featured Category plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.8.2
Description The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'bnsfc' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 2.8.2, consider disabling the 'bnsfc' shortcode until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to pages that use the 'bnsfc' shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation.
