Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Runners Log plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.9.2
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'runnerslog' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes, such as
attributes provided by users. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page, potentially through API endpoints like "/wp-admin/admin.php" or similar.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 3.9.2, update to a version that addresses the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'runnerslog' shortcode for users with contributor-level access and above until a patch is available.
