Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
AutomatorWP – Automator plugin for no-code automations, webhooks & custom integrations in WordPress versions up to, and including, 5.2.5
Description
The AutomatorWP plugin is vulnerable to time-based SQL Injection via the
field conditions parameter due to insufficient escaping on the user-supplied parameter and lack of sufficient preparation on the existing SQL query. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Administrator-level access and above, to append additional SQL queries into already existing queries that can be used to extract sensitive information from the database. Administrators can configure the plugin to allow access to this functionality to authors and higher.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 5.2.5, update to a version that fixes the SQL Injection vulnerability.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
field conditions parameter to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Restrict access to the plugin's functionality to only necessary users, such as administrators, to reduce the attack surface.Fix
