CVE-2022-49993

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, related to an overflow when configuring a loop. The issue arises from the userspace configuring a loop using an ioctl call, passing a configuration of type loop config, which proceeds to call loop configure() and then loop set status from info(). This function sets the appropriate values, like the offset, but directly copies the offset from info to the device, resulting in an overflow. The overflow triggers a warning in iomap iter() due to a call to iomap iter done(). To fix this, a check for negative value during loop set status from info() has been added.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
