Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A race condition between
bmap and write operations in the ext4 filesystem can cause a warning in ext4 iomap begin. This issue occurs when the bmap and write operations are executed concurrently, leading to a potential problem. The estimated number of potentially affected devices worldwide is not available. There is no information about real-world incidents where this issue was exploited. The issue can be triggered by the ext4 iomap begin function, specifically when the WARN ON ONCE(ext4 has inline data(inode)) condition is met.Recommendations
To resolve this issue, hold the inode lock in
ext4 bmap. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the ext4 iomap begin function until a patch is available.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
