Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, specifically in the imx-jpeg media component. The issue allowed for potential memory out of bounds risks, particularly in the decoder. The hardware supports arbitrary image sizes, and the fix involves aligning the buffer size upwards for both the encoder and decoder, without changing the picture resolution. This change lifts the limitation of resolution alignment for both components, enabling support for various image sizes, such as 227x149 for the decoder and 1080P for the encoder.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
