Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 5.19-rc5+ #1052
Description
A warning has been fixed in the Linux kernel for MIPS architecture when CONFIG CPUMASK OFFSTACK and CONFIG DEBUG PER CPU MAPS are selected. The issue generated a runtime warning while showing /proc/cpuinfo. The fix uses nr cpu ids instead of NR CPUS to iterate CPUs.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 5.19-rc5+ #1052, update to a version that includes the fix for the warning in cpuinfo. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
show cpuinfo() function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the /proc/cpuinfo file to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the cpu max bits warn() function in the affected kernel versions until the issue is resolved.Exploit
