Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Download Manager plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 3.3.18
Description
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting in the Download Manager plugin for WordPress. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the
wpdm user dashboard shortcode. Authenticated attackers with author-level access and above can inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations
For versions up to, and including, 3.3.18, update to a version that includes the necessary input sanitization and output escaping fixes to prevent Stored Cross-Site Scripting attacks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
wpdm user dashboard shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
