CVE-2024-9017
CVSS v3.1
6.4
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
PeepSo Core: Groups plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 6.4.6.0
Description:
The PeepSo Core: Groups plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the Group Description field due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations:
For versions up to, and including, 6.4.6.0, update to a version later than 6.4.6.0 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Group Description field to minimize the risk of exploitation. Additionally, restrict the ability of subscribers to inject scripts into the Group Description field until a patch is available.
Fix
XSS
