Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
A bug in the Linux kernel has been resolved, specifically an out-of-bounds issue in the
usbhid parse() function. The struct hid descriptor has been updated to reflect the mandatory and optional parts of the HID Descriptor as per the USB HID 1.11 specification. The kernel currently only parses the mandatory report descriptor. A test has been added to verify the validity of bLength and bNumDescriptors values. The code has been updated to directly access the mandatory HID class descriptor member for the report descriptor, eliminating the possibility of an out-of-bounds fault. A warning message is added if the HID descriptor contains any unsupported optional HID class descriptors.Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
