CVSS v3.1
6.4
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Smart Docs plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.1.0
Description:
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the plugin's 'smartdocs search' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations:
For Smart Docs plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.1.0, update to a version later than 1.1.0 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the 'smartdocs search' shortcode to minimize the risk of exploitation.
