VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Linux kernel versions prior to the fixed version
Description: A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved, which prevented a kernel warning due to a negative i nlink from a corrupted image. The issue was related to the f2fs file system. Technical details about the issue include a warning message with a call trace, indicating a problem in the drop nlink function at fs/inode.c:417. The vulnerability was caused by a corrupted image, leading to a negative i nlink value.
Recommendations: For Linux kernel versions prior to the fixed version, update to the latest version to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the f2fs file system until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable drop nlink function to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the f2fs i links write function in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
