| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
The AI Engine plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.8.4
Description:
The issue is related to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the
id parameter in the mwai chatbot shortcode. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping, allowing authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages. These scripts will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.Recommendations:
For versions up to, and including, 2.8.4, consider disabling the
mwai chatbot shortcode until a patch is available to prevent exploitation.
Restrict access to pages that use the mwai chatbot shortcode to minimize the risk of script injection.
Avoid using the id parameter in the mwai chatbot shortcode until the issue is resolved.Fix
