CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H

Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:

Linux kernel versions prior to 6.16.0-rc3-build2+ #1301

Description:

The Linux kernel contains a flaw within the SMB client implementation that can lead to a potential deadlock when reconnecting channels. Specifically, an incorrect lock order within the cifs signal cifsd for reconnect() function can trigger this deadlock scenario. The issue arises from a circular locking dependency involving locks associated with TCP sessions, session buffers, and channels.

Recommendations:

Update the Linux kernel to a version after 6.16.0-rc3-build2+ #1301 to resolve this issue.
